Accessibility Statement
Arlington Autism Center serves children with autism and their families. Accessibility is not a side concern for us, it is central to the work we do. We are committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, captioning, or other assistive technology.
Our Standard
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
What We Are Doing
- Writing in plain, direct language and avoiding unnecessary jargon.
- Providing text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Structuring pages with proper headings so screen readers can navigate them.
- Aiming for sufficient color contrast between text and background.
- Supporting keyboard navigation for interactive elements including forms.
- Labeling form fields clearly and associating labels with their inputs.
- Reviewing accessibility when we add or change pages.
Known Limitations
We want to be honest rather than make a blanket claim of full conformance. This website is a work in progress, and some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Third-party content we embed, such as maps or social media, is not fully within our control. If you encounter a barrier, we want to hear about it and we will work to fix it.
